I’m not a big follower of Oprah, but apparently she is devoting a lot of airtime to some woman who wrote a book called “The Secret”. It is about the ‘law of attraction’.
This is a kind of like industrial-strength positive thinking. It says we can attract the things we want to our lives by thinking real hard about them.
hmmmm.
Considering what I get, a lot of the time, I’m not totally sure this is working out for me. On one hand, I could say that I’m writing and selling books because I always BELIEVED I could do it. (Which doesn’t give much credit to all the time I actually spent WORKING to make this happen).
But how do we explain some of the other things that happen?
Last Sunday, I played hookie from church, figuring that my bum knee, and tendency to curse loudly with every other step might make for an interesting mass for the people around me.
But around about the time that the rest of the family was due home, I heard an interesting noise from the garage.
ThumpCrash.
Now, I’ve lived in this house long enough to know that interesting noises never turn out well. So I was trying to decide whether it was worth limping outside to see what was wrong, when I saw the minivan pulling into the garage.
The boys gave me the report from the garage.
When #1 son, who is learning to drive, pulled up to the garage, there was a full grown, male pheasant sitting inside the garage on the roof of my husband’s Corolla (We leave the garage door open, sometimes. We should know better).
The pheasant was surprised to see the mini-van, and he decided to leave. Through a closed window on the side of the garage. He wasn’t about to let a little thing like the window glass interfere with his exit. He kept right on going.
There is now a pheasant sized hole in the garage window.
When I tell people this story, the response is, “This would only happen to you.”
Well, yeah. Pretty much. Stuff like this happens to us all the time.
But why?
If the laws of attraction are to be believed, I wished up a pheasant in my garage.
What the hell was I thinking?
Because I’m pretty sure I didn’t want him to break the window, especially after leaving the garage door open for him.
LOL Chris!
DId you see the Saturday Night Live skit this week with Oprah and the Secret author? It was really funny. 🙂

Why didn’t you leave the oven door open for him ?

Law of Attraction
There are certain things happen to our life that aren’t anticipated, much like you had experienced in your garage.
Yes, the Law of Attraction says that we can have those what we want if we think strongly that we can have it.

Well, ‘The Secret’ was really a phenomenal one.
I am also into the Law of Attraction. I’m starting learning its rope.
There is nothing to lose if we try to apply it in our life. What can you say?
