Next year, 2011, marks the bicentennial of the beginning of the Regency in England. The Prince of Wales took the oath which made him Regent at Carlton House on 6 February 1811.

I was wondering if you, or Harlequin, were planning to do anything to mark this historic milestone? As a lover of Regency romances, and of yours in particular, I think it would be nice if something was done to celebrate the bicentennial of the beginning of our favorite period of history.

    Regards,

    Kat

    An interesting question.

I hadn’t really thought about it. But then, I routinely forget birthday’s and anniversaries in my own family.

I will ask the editors at M & B if they are planning anything. If not (or maybe even if so) I will ask around and get something going amongst the other Regency authors I know.

We really should have a party of some kind.

Hi Christine ~ Uh OH…I’m kicking around on the Internet just for the heck of it…and I stumbled upon Diane Gaston, which led me to you….two authors I have not read! But I suspect I will really really really like! I very recently ran across an old Laurie McBain book, am PLOWING through it, loving it so much (read her a million years ago) I tried to find her online. Found you and Diane Gaston instead…over and over…. So I think its fate! I will now be looking for one of each of you guys books. Hurray! Oh, hello, by the way. Sorry, I sound like a crazy person. I’m not.

  6. Christine Merrill says:

I am a firm believer in fate, or at least, fortuitous coincidences. Welcome!

  7. Mary says:

Thank you for the welcome! I think I saw you on Diane Gaston’s blog too, you want sheep & llamas. That would be fun! I will make do with the Golden Retriever & two Chihuahuas for now.

  8. Cheryl says:

Hi Christine … found you! It was great meeting you at RT.

    Hi Christine,

I just thought I’d sent this message to say that I love Miss Winthorpe’s Elopement. Thank you for sending and signing it. I really am looking forward for the next novel about Tim.

Thanks again and I look forward to read more of your books.

    Cherish

  12. Love your new website design, Chris! Kudos to your designer! I tried to leave a message on the contact page, but it wouldn’t let me so I am leaving it here. The pop up said “unable to validate” or something like that. Anyway–very fun, informative site. And definitely a reflection of your witty self!

  13. Jill says:

one Cherry is here. Holly , the site is beautiful. Very Chris

Still working on this. Don’t give up hope. I should be there by the next book, which will be in October.

  19. Cheryl Scott says:

I finished Need to Know last night and I can’t stop thinking about it. (which is quite something for me) Please tell me that you plan to write more about Liz and Harper. The chemistry between those two fairly crackled off the page and I would love to read a sequel. I enjoy your Historicals but I think this Contemporary is really very special. Thank you for such a rewarding read.

    • Christine Merrill says:

      Thank you, so much!

That book is special to me, as well. It’s the one that got away, as far as traditional sales went. And it’s managing to be the runt of the litter, as far as self publishing sales go. Everyone in the world makes more money than me 🙂 I should count the total sales on this book so far, but I think it is still less than a thousand, after several years.

You could help me by leaving a review on Amazon, or anywhere else. Or by telling a friend.

Sales or not, I really love these characters. And I still want to do a sequel (Wetwork). Actually, I’m thinking of going back to that project soon, since I have a couple of months in the work schedule. But I’m going to have to do it for love not money, and it’s nice to know that there is an audience.

  20. Cheryl Scott says:

That is such good news. I can’t wait. I will do as you ask and post a review on Amazon – and I will definitely tell my reader friends about this gem of a book.

I fully understand how these characters have gotten under your skin. They seem very real to me too.

I get sick of reading about too perfect heroes and heroines, so it’s great to have some ‘Real’ flawed people to read about.

As a side note. I loved how Liz went to mush at the way Harper said ‘Vuh gin ya’ over the phone.

I reckon I would have gone to mush too! 🙂 Sigh.

I just read The Inconvenient Duchess and.. I’m in love! I just purchased many of your other Historical romances (Ebooks on Kindle) and can’t wait to begin reading them!
I think my husband has mixed feelings about you, because your book stole me away for hours.. but he wasn’t so sad after I was done with the book!
BTW, fellow Wisconsinite here – I read at the back of the book that you are from Wisconsin. We are quite a breed of our own. =)
    GO PACKERS!!!

    • Christine Merrill says:

Glad you enjoyed it. There are plenty more where that came from.

And yes, guilty as charged, I live in Wisconsin. We just did Labor Day Weekend in Chicago, and I did not leave the state without taking cheese.

  22. Susan Harrison says:

I just finished The Incovenient Duchess and An Unladylike Offer and I loved them both. Can’t wait untill I can read your other books.

  23. Ester Balinger says:

    Hi Christine
Have most of your books, am an avid reader and collector of historical romances and am thoroughly enjoying yours.
However was a bit perplexed having got to Book 3 of the above trilogy, was wondering why the girls father referred to as the Duke of Bembridge in Book 2, has been reduced to an Earl in Book 3? Was this a genuine mistake or was there a reason for it?
    LOL didn’t like him anyway!!!!!!
Am now going to start your next set i.e., The Radwells ~ have got Books 1 – 3 but still looking for the 4th. Am sure will find it.

    Kindest Regards ~ Ester

    • Christine Merrill says:

Total mistake on my part! There was a gap between writing the 2nd and 3rd books and when I did my editing, I think I was using the wrong manuscript to compare. Very sorry I did that, but points to you for having sharp eyes, Ester.

And the 4th Radwell book is actually a short story that shows up in the “Pleasurably Undone!” anthology.

  24. Loni says:

Just finished the whole Silk and Scandal series and loved it. I own Louise Allen’s and Margaret McPhee’s contributions to the series and had read them several times before deciding that I had to get to the bottom of things and find out who dunnit and what happened to Stephano. Your work, “Taken by the Wicked Rake,” was the perfect capstone to the series. The other books hinted that Stephano would be a romantic dream-come-true, and your portrayal did not disappoint. Well done!

I’m a Wisconsin farm girl too!

  25. Kathleen J Ruggio says:

I LOVED your book The Inconvient Duchess! It is the first of your books I have read and I fear I have now many more to go. I read it in one day and couldn’t put it down until 2am. Since June 1,2012 I have read over 200 books and this was one of my favorites. I hope to be a writer too “when I grow up”. I’m in love with reading hystorical romance. I feel I may have lived a life in some of the periods in which I have read. I look forward to reading all your books! Thanks for not giving up on your dream!!!

  26. Lorri says:

    I just finished reading
